Upper St. Clair Man Charged with DUI Less Than Half-Mile from Home

The incident occurred on Lesnett Road.

An Upper St. Clair Township man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on a township road less than a half-mile from his home.

Jeffrey Wayne Joyce, 64, of Tiffany Drive, was stopped by an Upper St. Clair police officer at the intersection of Tiffany and Lesnett Road on June 5 for erratic driving while heading northeast on Lesnett, according to court documents.

The officer reported smelling alcohol upon approaching Joyce's vehicle and put Joyce through field-sobriety tests, which he reported that Joyce performed poorly on.

The officer placed Joyce under arrest for suspicion of DUI and, eventually, took him to St. Clair Hospital for a blood test (results pending).

Joyce was eventually released to the custody of his wife, and his preliminary hearing before district Judge Robert C. Wyda on Monday was waived for Allegheny County Court, where he will have a formal arraignment on Aug. 22.
