Movie Begins Filming in Upper St. Clair

'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' is being filmed on Mill Grove Road.

Stephen Chbosky is back in his hometown directing a feature film based in his novel of the same title, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."

Upper St. Clair's government website posted a traffic advisory due to the movie shoot. Traffic restrictions will take place on Mill Grove Road, Swanson Lane, Hathaway Lane, Ewing Circle and Valley Court from Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 13.

"We are requesting that in order to keep the streets as safe as possible that street traffic be limited to those who live in this area," the traffic advisory stated.

The movie, which stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Mae Whitman and Nina Dobrev, tells the story of an introvert high school freshman who lives in Pittsburgh during the early 1990s.

Chbosky is an Upper St. Clair High School graduate. He has written the screenplay for the film "Rent" and was executive producer of the CBS television series "Jericho."
