Shannon Boyle knew she wanted to be a journalist since she was 12 years old and writing for the Chartiers Valley Middle School newspaper. In high school, Shannon’s love for writing developed more being a co-editor-in-chief for the Char-Valiant. She then decided to attend Point Park University and major in journalism and communications.

Shannon graduated from Point Park in 2007 with a double degree in journalism and communications & broadcasting. While at Point Park she was the sports editor for the college newspaper, The Globe, for three years and a staff member of Point Park’s television program, On the Point, where she edited film for on-air productions, wrote copy on deadline, was a videographer and on-air reporter. Additionally while attending college, Shannon interned in the media relations/publications department for the Pittsburgh Penguins where she wrote hockey-related stories on deadline that were published in game day programs and on team the web site, created story ideas that involved extensive sports-related research and interviews and helped edit and revise the program. Also during her college venture, Shannon was a student writer for Pittsburgh Sports Report and had a few articles published in The Almanac.

After college Shannon had a brief stint working for Trib Total Media as an obituary writer.

Today you can find Shannon working behind the bar or serving at a local restaurant or trying to start a jewelry business. She is happy to be involved and writing for Chartiers Valley Patch, even though a current resident of Mt. Lebanon, she feels as if Bridgeville and the Chartiers Valley area will always be home.
