The weekend forecast looks much warmer.
Warmer temperatures are on the way after Pittsburgh experienced a record low temperature Thursday morning. The National Weather Service in Moon Township recorded an unofficial low temperature of 19 degrees at Pittsburgh International Airport at 6 a.m., which broke the record low of 20 degrees in 1954, according to the Post-Gazette. The high temperature is in the 50s, with the mercury hitting the 60s on Sunday. Here's the National Weather Service's weekend forecast for Upper St. Clair:

The morning commute could be a tricky one.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory for the Pittsburgh region, including Upper St. Clair, from 11 p.m. Sunday until 2 p.m. Monday. A period of snow and freezing rain is expected overnight Sunday, before changing to all rain by Monday afternoon. A winter weather advisory means that snow, sleet, or freezing rain will make travel difficult. Here's a more detailed look at the forecast:

The weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Pittsburgh area Friday morning.
Expect freezing rain and ice accumulations of about a tenth of an inch on Friday. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Upper St. Clair that is in effect from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The freezing rain is expected to begin between 6 and 8 a.m. and end between 1 and 3 p.m. The National Weather Service warns of hazardous travel conditions because of ice-covered roads.

You better bundle up this week as bitterly cold temperatures are expected to move into Peters Township. Dennis Sims, a meteorologist at Air Science Consultants in Bridgeville, told Chartiers Valley Patch last week that he expected the bitter temperatures to arrive in the South Hills on Tuesday. Sims said the middle of the week would have lows in single digits and highs in the teens. That forecast was backed up by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. This year light concessions will be available for pool-goers.
The Upper St. Clair Community and Recreation Center's outdoor pool will open for the season at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The timing couldn't be anymore perfect with the National Weather Service in Moon Township predicting highs in the high 80s on Saturday and Sunday, and a high of 90 degrees on Memorial Day. This year pool-goers will be able to purchase light concessions from AVI Foodsystems, such as sandwiches, salads and soft drinks. The concession stand will be open this weekend and following weekends until school ends. Then the concession stand will be available from 12 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sundays.
