Bower Hill Reopens After Tanker Spill

A tanker spill in Bridgeville on Friday afternoon closed Bower Hill Road near McLaughlin Run for two hours. The road reopened around 4:30 p.m.

UPDATE: 4:50 p.m. - Bower Hill Road reopened to traffic around 4:30 p.m.   A tanker truck crash in Bridgeville is causing traffic back-ups on a busy road many Upper St. Clair residents use. Bridgeville police said the tanker crashed at Bower Hill and McLaughlin Run roads around 2:25 p.m. Friday, forcing them to close the intersection. It's not known how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured. The tanker is leaking either fuel or oil, so a hazardous material crew has been called to the scene to assist in the clean up. Motorists are urged to stay away from the area. Police are detouring traffic onto Baldwin Street to avoid the crash scene. Continue to monitor Patch as more details become available.
