Powerball Jackpot Reaches $600 Million for Saturday's Drawing

The jackpot is the largest jackpot in the game’s history.

Want to try your luck at a Powerball lottery ticket? You only need one $2 ticket to play. The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $600 million, or a $376.9 million cash prize for the Saturday, May 18, drawing after none of the tickets sold Wednesday matched the winning numbers. The multi-state mega-lottery had rolled to a $475 million value after Wednesday's drawing, but increased by $75 million Thursday afternoon as a result of strong ticket sales. The $550 million jackpot is the second-largest jackpot in the game’s history. The largest was won last Nov. 28, 2012, when a $587.5 million jackpot was shared by two tickets sold in Arizona and Missouri. Tickets for the next Powerball drawing will be available until 9:59 p.m. Saturday evening.  …

Winning Powerball Ticket Sold Nearby

The Pennsylvania Lottery says one of the winning Powerball tickets worth $1 million was sold at local Shop’n Save.

Someone in the Pittsburgh area might be $1 million richer. The Pennsylvania Lottery says one of the winning Powerball tickets worth $1 million was sold at the Shop’n Save in Raceway Plaza. The ticket for Saturday night’s drawing matched all five white balls but missed the red Powerball. The winning numbers for Saturday night’s drawing are 15-23-40-44-55, and the red Powerball is 14. The Pennsylvania Lottery is asking the winner to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at Lottery headquarters in Dauphin County, or at any of Lottery’s seven area offices. One of the three $1 million winning Powerball tickets in Pennsylvania was sold in Butler County.

One of the three $1 million winning Powerball tickets in Pennsylvania was sold in Butler County, the Pennsylvania Lottery confirmed Thursday afternoon. The winning ticket, which matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball number, was sold at the Planet Mart convenience store near Saxonsburg, according to the lottery. The other two $1 million winning Powerball tickets in Pennsylvania were sold in Altoona and Montgomery County. Lottery officials said they would not know the identities of the winners until they come forward and claim their prize by calling them at 717-702-8146.
