'Perks' Actor Faces Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

It was 'bad timing' for actor and New Jersey native Ezra Miller, township police said.

Ezra Miller, 18, of Hoboken, N.J., was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Peters Township police Wednesday at approximately 11:30 p.m. for a traffic violation at the 2800 block of Washington Road, near Pizzaz and Simmons Farm Market.  The officer saw Miller lighting a cigarette while stopped and detected a strong odor of burning marijuana once he approached the vehicle, according to Peters police Capt. Michael Yanchak. Police noted "brown, vegetable material" in Miller's lap. A further search revealed a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana, rolling papers and marijuana in Miller's jacket. Emma Watson, Movie Shoot Creates Excitement in Upper St. Clair

Filming took place in the Deerfield Manor neighborhood on Thursday and Friday.

"Can you believe she's in our neighborhood?" "I hope I get her autograph!" Small crowds of neighborhood kids gathered in excitement on Friday afternoon, while the cast and crew of the movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, were filming in Deerfield Manor. The children walked or rode their bikes from their homes in hopes of catching a glimpse of actress Emma Watson. And an autograph, if they were lucky. They were ready — with pictures, DVDs and sharpies in hand. The actors' trailers were set up along Hollow Tree Drive. A shuttle was taking the cast and crew to and from the house being used for filming, located on Merry Oak Lane. The house is currently for sale and is listed for $1.9 million. Fans Line Up To Catch Glimpse of Emma Watson

Scores lined up to catch a glimpse—and perchance an autograph—of the star, or just to watch some Hollywood outside the Hollywood.

After a good hour's worth waiting, the words "lights, camera, action" or "roll 'em" were never heard, but an all-business woman walked out to the crowd gathered across the street from Dormont's Hollywood Theater and said: Yes, Emma Watson would be out shortly to sign autographs. No flash, please, or Watson would leave. Dozens had waited for Watson, launched to stardom on via the "Harry Potter" tales, to make an appearance—hoping for an autograph or a glimpse while she was in Dormont filming "The Perks of Being A Wallflower." Kings Restaurant Closed for Movie Shoot

'Perks of Being a Wallflower' is filming at Kings until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Kings Restaurant on McMurray Road will be closed for a movie shoot Thursday 2 p.m. through Saturday 5 p.m. The movie crew will be filming scenes for "Perks of Being a Wallflower." Last week, the crew filmed scenes at a home along Mill Grove Road. Click here for pictures from a Patch reader. The film is being directed by Upper St. Clair High School graduate Stephen Chbosky. It is based on Chbosky's book, "Perks of Being a Wallflower," which tells the story of an introvert freshman who learns everything from drug use to suicide after being taken on the wings by his step siblings. Movie Begins Filming in Upper St. Clair

'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' is being filmed on Mill Grove Road.

Stephen Chbosky is back in his hometown directing a feature film based in his novel of the same title, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." Upper St. Clair's government website posted a traffic advisory due to the movie shoot. Traffic restrictions will take place on Mill Grove Road, Swanson Lane, Hathaway Lane, Ewing Circle and Valley Court from Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 13. "We are requesting that in order to keep the streets as safe as possible that street traffic be limited to those who live in this area," the traffic advisory stated. The movie, which stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Mae Whitman and Nina Dobrev, tells the story of an introvert high school freshman who lives in Pittsburgh during the early 1990s. Make Your Old Car a Star in an Upper St. Clair Movie

'Perks of Being A Wallflower' needs vehicles from 1970 to 1991.

The Pittsburgh Film office reports Summit Entertainment is looking for vehicles from 1970 to 1991 to be featured in the film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." If you are interested in having your car in the movie you are asked to call 412-572-5232. The movie will soon begin filming in Upper St. Clair and the Pittsburgh area. It stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Mae Whitman and Nina Dobrev.  "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" is based on a novel with the same title. Author Steven Chbosky, who will also direct the film, is an Upper St. Clair native.

USC Native to Film Scenes for Movie at Dormont's Hollywood Theater

The Hollywood Theater will reopen in May and then close May 23-June 8 for the movie shoot.

Upper St. Clair native Stephen Chbosky will rent the Hollywood Theater in Dormont to film scenes from the movie he is directing based on his book, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." Casting under way for the feature film 'Perks of Being a Wallflower.'

According to the Pittsburgh Film Office, Nancy Mosser Casting has been hired to cast local speaking parts and extras for the feature film "Perks of Being a Wallflower." The feature film will be directed by the author of the novel and Upper St. Clair native, Stephen Chbosky, and will begin shooting in Pittsburgh in May. Upper St. Clair native Stephen Chbosky is set to direct a film in the Pittsburgh area. The romance drama, "Perks of Being a Wallflower" will star Emma Watson, from the "Harry Potter" series, and Logan Lerman. Chbosky wrote the best selling novel in 1999 and will adapt the book for the film. The story explores the awkward times of adolescence, including teen sexuality and drug use.
