Smiles and Tears Mark the Start of USC Veterans Park

A special groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the Upper St. Clair Veterans Park took place on Friday.

The Upper St. Clair Veterans Park construction officially began Friday morning. Local veterans, government officials and community members gathered for a ceremonious groundbreaking next to the Upper St. Clair municipal building. There were hugs, smiles and tears during the event, as attendees honored and remembered service members. "I'm having mixed feelings right now. As much joy as I have, I have sadness," Dave Kutschbach said. Kutschbach is an Upper St. Clair resident, the superintendent of projects for the Upper St. Clair Public Works department and the father of Staff Sgt. State Auditor General Visits High School Law Club

State Auditor General Jack Wagner encourages students to follow their hearts and lead by example.

State Auditor General Jack Wagner spoke to members of the Upper St. Clair High School Law Club after school on Tuesday.  About twenty club members met in one of the social studies classrooms to hear Wagner speak. He began his talk by explaining his role as State Auditor General —overseeing a department of over 600 auditors and accountants to protect the spending of tax dollars and to ensure that government operates efficiently and effectively. Wagner’s decision to enter politics came in his early thirties, and his pre-political career and life choices were varied and interesting. He graduated high school and entered the work force before enlisting in the Marine Corps and serving for two years in Vietnam, earning the Purple Heart.  After …
