Upper St. Clair Fish Fry Guide

Every Friday until Easter, you can find great fried fish and other meatless dinner options at churches and organizations around the South Hills.

Easter is this Sunday, which means the Lenten season is almost over. That also means Friday is the last fish fry of the year! Here's a list of some local options for you and your family. CMU Grad Serves Up Fish Fry Map for Lent

Hollen Barmer turned her love of fish fries into a map to chart the many Pittsburgh-area places to find Friday fish for Lent.

Leave it to a non-Pittsburgh native to find a way to let all yinz know where to find fish n'at for Lent. Hollen Barmer, a writer/editor for Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute, has found all the fish fries Pittsburgh has to offer—and a way to add those she might have missed. "I decided to make the first map in 2012 because I'd been enjoying going to fish fries for a few years and wanted to see all the options based on location," explained Barmer, who moved here from Memphis, TN 13 years ago to attend graduate school at CMU. "Even though I've lived in Pittsburgh for almost 13 years, I don't know all the neighborhoods. On top of that, I am terrible with directions. I thought other people might be able to use the map …

Readers' Choice: The Best Fish Fry Winner Is ...

This is Upper St. Clair Patch's second week looking for the readers' favorite choice!

Congratulations to St. Louise De Marillac Church for winning Upper St. Clair Patch's Readers' Choice poll for best local fish fry! As of 11:30 a.m. Friday, St. Louise received 37 percent of the vote. St. Bernard Church in Mt. Lebanon came in second place with 21 percent of the vote. Readers' Choice: Where's the Best Fish Fry in USC?

We're looking for your favorite Friday night meal during Lent.

Last week we asked readers to determine who has the best burger in Upper St. Clair (you selected Stonepepper's Grill). This week, we'd like to know the best places to get fish on Fridays during Lent!
