Teachers Take on Teachers for Special Needs Playground

Event takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday in Fort Couch Middle School's gym.

Students will be able to take joy in seeing their teachers compete against one another in basketball, volleyball and pin knockdown in an effort to raise money for Casey's Clubhouse. The event begins at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Fort Couch Middle School gym. Organizers, led by teacher Brad Wilson, will be raising money through ticket sales, concessions and a variety of raffles to benefit Casey's Clubhouse. Casey’s Clubhouse is the charitable foundation created by Upper St. Clair's Sean and Mandi Casey to raise funds for the Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills. Miracle League Hopes to Open New Playground in May 2014

Help make the playground a reality by enjoying yourself at Saturday's Comedy Night.

The Miracle League of the South Hills and Casey's Clubhouse are working to raise enough money to build a playground next to the Miracle Field in Boyce Mayview Park in May 2014. The playground would be specifically designed so kids of all abilites could use it. The public can help raise funds by attending the 3rd Annual Pat McCurdy Comedy Night on Saturday, Feb. 16. Some tickets remain for purchase at $50 each. Tickets include beer, soft drinks, food from Franco's Trattoria and comedy entertainment with fan-favorite Pat McCurdy. There will also be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, door prizes and more. Play Ball! Miracle League of the South Hills Begins Saturday

Former MLB All-Star Sean Casey and Pirates Charities bring baseball to children with special needs.

On Saturday, May 26, Casey’s Clubhouse and the Pirates Charities will host opening day festivities and the inaugural games played at the Pirates Charities Miracle League Field of the South Hills. Sean and Mandi Casey, of Upper St. Clair, founded Casey’s Clubhouse in the summer of 2010 with the goal of building a Miracle League Field for children with special needs in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. With the help of Pirates Charities, the organization raised the more than $1 million needed for the construction of a custom-designed, rubberized field that will allow children of all abilities to play baseball. Miracle Field Opening Day Revealed

The Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills Field will open the same day as the Upper St. Clair Community and Recreation Center's outdoor pool.

The Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills Field will open on Saturday, May 26. The field is uniquely designed to give children of all abilities the opportunity to play baseball. The field is equipped with various amenities including a completely rubberized and flat surface, power outlets in the dugouts and bathrooms available on site. The league is now accepting registration for players with special needs—both youth and adult leagues. Games will be held on Saturdays May 26 through June 30 and will return for a fall season. It was a special moment for everyone involved in the development of the Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills.

Friday was a momentous morning for the people involved in the Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills. Around 11 a.m., a team of men and a forklift raised a 500-pound bronze plate—shaped like a baseball field—honoring the people and companies who donated a large amount of money to build the baseball field designed for kids with special needs. "It highlights what the field stands for and all the work everyone's done," said Kyle Robinson, a former Upper St. Clair Public Works employee who has volunteered his time as the field's construction manager. More bronze plaques will be drilled underneath the field plaque, and in the two bricks walls to the left and right, in the coming days—representing others who have donated money to …

Sunday's rain didn't dampen the fun at a fundraiser for Casey's Clubhouse. Nevillewood Neighbors hosted a pool party and cookout at the Club at Nevillewood to benefit Casey’s Clubhouse and the Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills Field, which is being built next to the Community and Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park The complex will include a custom-designed rubberized surface to help prevent injuries and will be completely wheelchair accessible in order to allow children of all abilities to take the field. Miracle League play is expected to begin in spring 2012.

Nevillewood Neighbors to Host Pool Party to Benefit Casey's Clubhouse

Event to raise money for the construction and maintenance of the Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills Field.

On Sunday, August 21, the Nevillewood Neighbors will host a pool party and cookout at the Club at Nevillewood to benefit Casey’s Clubhouse and the Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills Field. The party and cookout will take place from 4–8 p.m. and will feature live music from local band Moscow Mule. Rita’s Italian Ice will be providing free Italian ice for all attendees and matching all cash donations made at the event.
