A special ceremony took place for local veterans.
The Upper St. Clair High School social studies department presented assemblies for the students on Thursday, Nov. 8, to honor local veterans, hosted by Dan Zelenski and Keera Dwulit, high school social studies teachers. John Gallo, Brian Kutschbach, Ben Dwulit, Brian Schill and Daniel Murphy represented the veterans on stage during the assembly. Students from the high school child care class led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, the Chanteclairs sang the Star Spangled Banner and the Panthers Marching Band played a medley of songs honoring the veterans. Keera Dwulit read a poem, Brian Schill encouraged students to consider serving their country and Daniel Murphy spoke to the students regarding respect. A video was shown from …

In observance of Veterans Day and the one-year anniversary of the dedication of the Upper St Clair Veterans Park, there will be a brief ceremony at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Upper St Clair Veterans' Park. The park is located on McLaughlin Run Road next to the Upper St Clair municipal building. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. The National Weather Service is forecasting a sunny day with a high of 67 degrees in Upper St. Clair on Sunday.

The Boy Scouts will hold a ceremony at 8:30 a.m.
This is the first Memorial Day members of the community can visit and reflect at Upper St. Clair Veterans Park. After years of fundraising efforts, the Veterans Park opened on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2011. A recent large donation from First Energy will help finish "paying the bills" for the monuments. The USC Veterans Park Board of Directors are now working to raise money for the park's maintenance fund and to add a statue of an American military person from 1788—the year the township was founded. On Monday, Memorial Day, local Boy Scouts will hold a ceremony at Veterans Park and raise the flags at 8:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend. A dedication ceremony took place on Veterans Day, 11-11-11.
Veterans, politicians, students and community members poured into the site of the new Upper St. Clair Veterans Park on Friday for a dedication ceremony. So many people attended the event, drivers had to use the old Recreation Center and Public Works parking lots. "You honor us by being here. You honor yourself by being here. I thank you," said T.J. McGarvey, Marine Corps veteran and president of the USC Veterans Park Board of Directors. "This park will stand as a lasting reminder of honor and respect," said Lanny Frattare, master of ceremonies. A dedication ceremony for the newly constructed Veterans Park in Upper St. Clair will be held on Veterans Day, Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the site which is located in the green space next to the Upper St. Clair Municipal Building. Lanny Frattare will emcee the ceremony. The ceremony will include performances by the Upper St. Clair High School Marching Band and the Pantheon Choir. Dignitaries representing the state, county and township will also be in attendance. The ceremony will include a ribbon cutting to signify the public opening of the park. The fundraising effort for the construction and dedication of a Veterans Park in Upper St. Clair has entered the final phase. The goal for the month of July is to collect the remaining funds, less than $140,000, in time for a groundbreaking ceremony on July 29. On this Fourth of July, a day when Americans celebrate independence, committee members issue a challenge to the community. "Our target is to dedicate the park on Veterans Day, 11/11/11," said T.J.
