Speeding on McLaughlin Run Road Becoming a Big Problem

Police wrote 32 speeding tickets and seven other traffic citations on the road in October.

Speeding is becoming a major issue on McLaughlin Run Road. Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said his department wrote 32 speeding tickets and seven other traffic citations along the road in October. King said residents near Coolidge Street started complaining about speeders in early October, prompting officers to increase patrols in the area. The results surprised King when the roadway overtook Bower Hill Road as the town’s new speedzone. “We received some complaints on McLaughlin and we’ve been hitting it hard. It’s unbelievable,” King said. “If we’re writing this many tickets then there’s an obvious problem there.” And the problem is continuing in November. Motorists Reminded to be Patient, Obey School Bus Stopping Law

School starts on Aug. 29 in Upper St. Clair. Look out for school buses.

School buses are returning to Pennsylvania roadways, prompting a reminder from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for motorists to watch out for buses and students headed to and from school. “With students distracted by the start of a new school year, it is all too easy for them to make a mistake and dart into traffic,” said PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch, P.E.  “So that everyone can make it safely to their destination, motorists are reminded to pay attention to students as they board and exit buses, and to obey traffic laws regarding school buses and school zones.” Motorists convicted of violating Pennsylvania’s school bus stopping law face a $250 fine, five points on their driving record and a 60-day license suspension. …
