Upper St. Clair Establishments Welcome Back the Pens

The drink and food specials offered during Pittsburgh Penguins games.

Sports bars in and near Upper St. Clair are happy to have the Pittsburgh Penguins playing again after the long lockout, despite Wednesday night's loss. "We are extremely happy that the Penguins are playing again. There was a real void in the Pittsburgh sporting world. We definitely saw a difference in our night bar business once the college football season ended. We get an enthusiastic crowd for the Pens games," said Barbara Joyce of Stonepepper's Grill. Stonepepper's doesn't have any specific special for Pens games, but they do have a special for every night of the week. Where do you go to eat if you want to sit outside?

Now that summer is here, we want to know where you go if you want to eat outside. We’re asking you what restaurant in the Upper St. Clair area has the best outdoor patio to sit and relax. A few places around town that come to mind are Calabria's, Stonepepper's Grill, Saigon 88, Cucina Bella, Panera Bread at The Galleria, and Piccolina's and Emma's Market & Deli at Pinebridge Commons. Take our poll below and help us determine this week's Readers' Choice winner! Voting ends at 9 on Friday morning. If we missed any great outdoor places to eat (besides your backyard patio), add them to the comments section below. Congratulations to the local restaurant!

No Snow, No Problem: 3rd Annual Chili Golf Classic the 'Best and Busiest'

Nearly 100 people played golf in the middle of winter to raise money for recreational programming for kids with special needs.

Nearly 100 golfers enjoyed Pittsburgh's mild winter weather while playing in the 3rd Annual Chili Golf Classic on Saturday at Upper St. Clair's three-hole golf course. "It's the best and busiest," said Barb Joyce, owner of StonePepper's Grill and resident of Upper St. Clair. Temperatures were in the 30s, with periods of light rain and sunshine. It was a sharp contrast from last year's event, when snow boots were a necessary accessory. Many golfers said they enjoyed playing on the green fairways this year. "We didn't have as difficult of a time finding the ball," golfer Rich Williams said. "We can feel our hands this year," golfer Aaron Mansfield said. And the lack of snowfall made set-up much easier for organizers. "I like it with no snow…
