Police, PennDOT Announce Aggressive-Driving Enforcement

Slow down, police will be ticketing.

PennDOT and the South Fayette and Cecil Township police departments held a news conference and enforcement event Tuesday on Route 50 in South Fayette Township to highlight the first wave of the aggressive-driving campaign that began on Monday, March 18. More than 350 municipal police forces, with the Pennsylvania State Police, are participating in aggressive-driving activities through April 28. Police will concentrate enforcement efforts on roadways known to have a high number of aggressive-driving crashes.  Aggressive driving includes risky behaviors such as speeding, running red lights and stop signs, tailgating or improper passing. Also, I haven't heard of any accidents attributed to "aggressive driving between Bridgeville and Cecil on 4 lane 50 recently. Driving fast isn't aggressive driving.   more ›

Outback Server Charged With Using Customer's Credit Card Number

The latest from the office of Magisterial District Judge Robert Wyda.

An Outback server is accused of using a customer's credit card number to purchase gas and food at the restaurant later that night. Christopher J. Shore, 29, of 892 Maplewood Dr., Castle Shannon, is charged with one count of access device fraud. The alleged victim told Upper St. Clair police that she and her husband charged their meal at Outback on March 1 and later discovered the card had been used to charge a second meal with the restaurant that night for $40. She also told police there was a second unauthorized charge for $20 at a Marathon gas station in Castle Shannon. This is unbelievable. It's sad that no one can be trusted these days. Luckily these people checked their account and realized the unauthorized charges were on there. I learned this lesson from a friend of mine who had a waiter add a larger tip for himself using her credit card. Keep up with your bank accounts!   more ›

'Sick' Raccoons Invading Area

Police said they've had at least 16 cases of "sick" raccoons staggering around the area in the past month.

The number of “sick” raccoons moving into Bridgeville and South Fayette has community leaders worried about the spread of disease by the wild animals. “Something is obviously wrong because I’ve never seen this many calls for sick raccoons,” Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said. King said he his police department has received 16 or 17 calls in the past two months for raccoons that appear to be disoriented or diseased. They don’t necessarily have rabies, King said, but could have “a dozen other diseases.” No one has been injured from any raccoons, although one apparently bit a Bridgeville resident’s pet. Your animal control officer should pick them up. from what i came to understand by Pa law the animal control officer is bound by law to pick them up and they will be taken care of. Most wild animals that become a problem like Racoons and such are destroyed by law. This is to help prevent the spread of diseases and such. It is sad but i do understand.   more ›

Limo Driver Faces Charges After Four Vehicle Crashes

The latest from the office of Magisterial District Judge Robert Wyda.

The preliminary hearing for a North Huntingdon man accused of crashing into three vehicles in Upper St. Clair while driving a limo was continued on Monday. Upper St. Clair police charged Robert J. Romano, 61, of 10253 Garnet Lane, North Huntingdon, PA 15624, with three counts of accident involving damage to attended vehicles; one count of driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked; one count of passing in a no-passing zone; one count of driving within single lanes; and one count of reckless driving.
