An Upper St. Clair man was held for court Monday on DUI charges. Robert Mihail Petrescu, 24, is accused of being drunk when he crashed his vehicle into another on Dec. 11, 2012. The crash occurred at the corner of McMillan and Orr roads. Each vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage. The following are three Sears theft cases heard by district Judge Robert Wyda on Monday. All cases were continued.

The preliminary hearing for an Upper St. Clair man charged with DUI was continued for a second time on Monday. Upper St. Clair police charged Robert Mihail Petrescu, 24, with DUI after he crashed his vehicle on December 11, 2012. According to the criminal complaint, the vehicle Petrescu was driving crashed head-on into another vehicle at the corner of McMillan and Orr roads. Petrescu and a female passenger in his vehicle were transported to St. Clair Hospital, where blood samples were taken from Petrescu. The woman driving the other vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign told police she would have her husband bring her to the hospital later, according to the complaint. An Upper St. Clair man is headed to trial on DUI charges. An Upper St. Clair police officer reported in a criminal complaint filed with district Judge Robert Wyda's office that he pulled over Robert R. Gostic, 39, for speeding in November. The officer was performing traffic enforcement near the Marosz Station on Washington Road. The officer stated he smelled alcohol on Gostic's breath. Gostic told the officer he drank at the Pittsburgh Steelers game and failed a field sobriety test, according to the complaint. Gostic's blood alcohol content was measured at .154 percent. In Pennsylvania, the legal blood alcohol content is .08 percent. Gostic is also facing charges for having a suspended and expired driver's license and speeding. The officer…

Upper St. Clair police report the woman used the 73-year-old man's credit card.
Upper St. Clair police accuse a Crafton woman of making $3,100 of unauthorized charges on a 73-year-old stroke victim's credit card. Jennifer S. Mrozek, 28, is charged with one count of forgery and one count of access device fraud. According to the criminal complaint, Mrozek befriended the Upper St. Clair man as he was trying to assist her with some personal issues. The man allegedly let Mrozek use the credit card to purchase cigarettes and ice cream. She then returned the card, but it later went missing from the victim's wallet, according to the complaint. When it reappeared, the man's statement allegedly showed $3,100 in charges. Mrozek's preliminary hearing in front of district Judge Robert Wyda on Monday was continued for 30 days. …

The man is accused of threatening a Sunoco clerk with a gun.
Bethel Park police say they nabbed the man who tried to rob the Sunoco on Route 19 at gunpoint right before Thanksgiving. The detective on the case also believes the suspect is connected to the Subway robbery in Castle Shannon, along with robberies in Coraopolis, Bellevue and Ben Avon. At this time, Dean Pletz, 44, of Bethel Park, is charged with one count of robbery and one count of persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms. The Allegheny County District Attorney's office is expected to file more charges against Pletz. During the attempted robbery investigation, information was received from other police agencies and video evidence generated Pletz as the suspect, according to the criminal complaint filed…

A Monongahela woman hired to clean homes in Upper St. Clair is charged with stealing more than $15,000 in jewelry and cash from three of the houses. Three counts of unlawful taking against Melissa Lynn Wellington, 40, were waived to court Monday. According to a criminal complaint, Upper St. Clair police were called to one of the homes after the homeowners confronted Wellington on Oct. 30. Charges against an Upper St. Clair man were withdrawn, and his case was dismissed Monday by District Justice Robert Wyda. Scott Drudy had been charged with two counts of simple assault following an April 14 incident. On May 7, his preliminary hearing was continued for 90 days, and he since has complied with court stipulations. Also on Monday, a hearing was rescheduled for a Pittsburgh woman accused of stealing $364.50 worth of merchandise from Sears at South Hills Village on May 11. Tara Ehrenberger is to complete a retail theft program prior to Sept. 10, according to court records.

A Pittsburgh woman is accused of using a child as a theft accomplice.
A Pittsburgh woman who is accused of using a child as a theft accomplice has had hear preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Wyda delayed. Ashley Burke, 26, was arrested by Upper St. Clair police on July 1 after being caught with items for which she did not pay after leaving Sears at South Hills Village, according to the police report. The report states that she was observed putting a bottle of cologne in her purse and taking a hair clip from a package and putting it in the 6-year-old girl’s hair. She then returned the package, with two remaining clips, to its proper place.
