C&RC Membership Nears 10,000

About one third of the Upper St. Clair population belongs to the Community and Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park.

After about three and a half years of operation, the Community and Recreation Center of Boyce Mayview Park has more than 9,800 members.  According to statistics shared at the parks and recreation committee meeting on Monday night, 68 percent of members are Upper St. Clair residents and 32 percent are non-residents.  When using the 2010 census statistics, calculations show that 34 percent of the Upper St. Clair population belongs to the C&RC, as of Jan. 2, 2013. After six months of being open in January 2010, the C&RC had 6,300 members—86 percent were residents and 14 percent were non-residents. Committee Recommends No Rate Increase for C&RC Members

The parks and recreation committee examined a status report Monday night.

The Upper St. Clair Parks and Recreation Committee decided not to recommend a rate increase for Community and Recreation Center members on Monday night. "We can hold off for another year," said Matthew Serakowski, township manager. Commissioners in December approved a budget that planned for a 2.5 percent rate increase, according to Commissioner Daniel Paoly. Serakowski told him the increase is not needed. The board of commissioners are expected to take a final vote on no rate increases at their March 4 meeting.

These are public documents and are available in the USC Library or at the Township office.
