Hot Hairstyle and Makeup Trends for Prom

Listen up, girls. Before you head to the prom, ask your stylist for one of these hot looks.

Forget fussy, unnatural up-dos, the area’s beauty experts agree bouncy, beachy waves, romantic braids—and even sleek ponytails—are the hot trends for this year’s prom hair. “It’s a lot softer and more natural,” said Tyler Emerick, a stylist at BeautyFirst in Cranberry. “It’s not as structured of an up-do as it has been in the past.” For this year’s prom, Emerick is forecasting braids as one of the top hairstyle trends—and he’s not talking about the tight schoolgirl braids or French braids of your youth, either. Video: USC Hits the Red Carpet

Arriving in limos, tricked out buses and vintage hot rods, students strutted their finery down the red carpet at the 2011 Upper St Clair High School Prom.

Arriving in limos, tricked out buses and vintage hot rods, students strutted their finery down the red carpet at the 2011 Upper St Clair High School Prom. The night's color trends ranged from the deepest red to hot pink, with daisy yellow and sapphire blue contrasting with the sublime black and white gowns. Dress styles ranged from elegant shifts that flowed to the floor to ball gowns with swirling skirts billowing wide across the swath of red carpet outside the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe. Oh yes, the gentlemen shined in their evening finery in tuxes trim and sharp with an occassional hairdo to raise the bar just a bit.

Five Beauty Tips for Prom

Practice makes a perfect look for your formal event.

If you’re trying to have an unforgettable evening instead of a regrettable one, prom makeup is definitely something you want to practice at home before going to the big event. Upper St. Clair High School's prom is on June 14 — less than a month away! Patch has assembled some tips to help get ready. 1. Eyes.
