PennDOT is delaying the construction work on Banksville Road in Dormont until next week.
PennDOT is delaying the construction work on Banksville Road until next week. The work was scheduled to begin Thursday morning and continue through Monday, but rain showers in the Pittsburgh area pushed construction back a few days. Construction is now expected to begin Monday and continue until Wednesday night. Crews plan to install crosswalk markings at various intersections and pave Helen Street at the intersection with Banksville Road. The northbound lanes of Banksville Road will be restricted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The southbound lanes will be under construction from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the three days of work. Hollen Barmer, a writer/editor for Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute, has found all the fish fries Pittsburgh has to offer—and a way to add those she might have missed. "I decided to make the first map in 2012 because I'd been enjoying going to fish fries for a few years and wanted to see all the options based on location," explained Barmer, who moved here from Memphis, TN 13 years ago to attend graduate school at CMU. Second place is nothing to scoff at when you're competing nationally, and for that reason, Pittsburgh has another reason to be proud. Tattoo artist Sarah Miller, owner of Wyld Chyld Tattoo on Brookline Boulevard, took second place on Spike TV's tattoo competition reality series "Ink Master" on Tuesday evening. Miller was a contestant on the second season of "Ink Master." The series finale—a live, two-hour special—aired on Spike TV on Tuesday. The title of Ink Master went to artist Steve Tefft of Groton, Conn., who also wins $100,000 and a feature in Inked Magazine. Celebrate Light Up Night a night early this year! Norman Centre in Bethel Park is holding its first annual Light Up Night celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. There will be holiday music, refreshments and a special appearance by Santa Claus in the Pier 1 Imports parking lot. Attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped gift to contribute to a Children's Hospital toy drive. The 52nd Annual Light Up Night in downtown Pittsburgh is Friday, Nov. 16.

In one of his final appearances of the presidential campaign, Republican nominee Mitt Romney landed this afternoon in Moon Township, exiting a plane at the Atlantic Aviation hangar before leaving in a motorcade. The stop was brief—Romney did not speak before stepping into an SUV motorcade of five vehicles. After walking out of his plane, he waved to a crowd of cheering supporters packed outside of the runway gate. Romney campaign spokesman Bradley White said the GOP candidate would be traveling in the region this afternoon, but he said the schedule was kept private.
