That is mighty kind of Panera to raise support and awareness for autism awareness. I'm looking forward to Chick-Fil-A to sponsor a cookie campaign to raise support and awareness to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.   more ›

Man Accused of Stealing Donation Jars

The man allegedly took donation jars meant for cancer patients and nearby volunteer fire departments.

A Sewickley man arrested this week is accused of stealing charitable donation jars from several businesses across the Pittsburgh area, including Scott Township and Peters. The jars contained loose change to help cancer patients and area volunteer fire departments. Ohio Township police, who cover Neville Island, charged him with theft and receiving stolen property. But Micklos said Coyle also confessed to similar thefts in Scott Township and Peters. The Upper St. Clair Newcomers' Club is here to help. "The club does a great job of making what can seem like a very stressful transition to a new neighborhood very welcoming," said club president Ann Marie Dingmann. The Newcomers' Club is a women's social club dating back to 1955. Panera Bread Issues Power of Pink Challenge

A challenge between Pittsburgh and Cleveland Panera stores will raise money for breast cancer awareness—and up the ante for the city that buys the most Pink Ribbon bagels.

Panera Bread has issued the Power of Pink Challenge during the month of October to raise money for breast cancer awareness. Through Oct. 31, a portion of the proceeds from each Pink Ribbon bagel sold will be donated to the Young Women's Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, benefitting the Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation. As part of the challenge, Panera has pitted Pittsburgh against Cleveland—two cities, one cause. Where do you go to eat if you want to sit outside?

Now that summer is here, we want to know where you go if you want to eat outside. We’re asking you what restaurant in the Upper St. Clair area has the best outdoor patio to sit and relax. A few places around town that come to mind are Calabria's, Stonepepper's Grill, Saigon 88, Cucina Bella, Panera Bread at The Galleria, and Piccolina's and Emma's Market & Deli at Pinebridge Commons. Take our poll below and help us determine this week's Readers' Choice winner! Voting ends at 9 on Friday morning. If we missed any great outdoor places to eat (besides your backyard patio), add them to the comments section below. Editor's Note: New restaurants Bonefish Grill and Ardolino's Pizza are also planning outdoor dining.
