Romney Wins PA Primary

Critz defeats Altmire in congressional race, Raja wins bitter contest with Mustio for state senate.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney had little trouble winning the Pennsylvania Republican primary for President of the United States, and his closest competitor was a man who is no longer in the race.  Romney finished with 57-percent of the vote, followed by former Sen. Rick Santorum at 19-percent. Santorum withdrew from the race earlier this month. Texas Congressman Ron Paul finished third with 13 percent and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was last with 11-percent of the vote.  In the race for U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, incumbent Bob Casey of Lackawanna County easily defeated Joseph Vodvarka of Robinson Township, Allegheny County, by a four to one margin in the Democratic primary.  Vodvarka who spent the evening with his …

Rick Santorum Declared Winner in Iowa

Official count out this morning says Romney really lost by 34 votes.

That means that according to the certified numbers, Santorum comes out on top, with 29,839 votes to Romney's 29,805. Romney had been declared the winner on caucus night by a slim 8-vote margin, which helped propel him to a big win in the New Hampshire Primary. Also today, a new poll has Newt Gingrich closing on Romney in South Carolina, whose residents go to the polls on …

Santorum Comes Close to Winning Iowa Caucuses

The former Pennsylvania senator lost by just eight votes to Mitt Romney, while Green Tree native Ron Paul finished third.

Mitt Romney lost the support he had four years ago in huge swaths of rural Iowa but managed to win big in the state's largest population centers to claim victory by a mere eight votes over former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in the closest GOP race in the storied history of the Iowa caucuses. Ron Paul, who grew up in Green Tree, finished a strong third. Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who finished a poor fifth, behind former U.S. Speaker Newt Gingrich, said he would return home to "assess the results," politicial speak for his probably decision to drop out of the race. Iowa native Michele Bachmann, who failed to win even one of the state's 99 counties, finished in sixth, just ahead of Jon Huntsman, who did not compete. According to reports, …
