Ring in 2012 with Highmark First Night

This event in downtown Pittsburgh promises a lot of activities, events and fun for those who attend.

Pittsburghers can ring in the new year with tons to do at Highmark's First Night Pittsburgh event. The event being on Dec. 31 at 6 p.m., with several activities begin held throughout downtown Pittsburgh. First Night is a unique, family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration focused on the arts. Held in more than 200 cities worldwide, the Pittsburgh festival is centered in the Cultural District and is a production of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. First Night Pittsburgh has something for everyone, from children’s activities and performances by nationally known musicians, to installations by local artists and a spectacular fireworks finale. New Year's Eve 2010: Drink Ideas

Impress your guests with these drink recipes from a local bartender

New Year's Eve is quickly approaching. There are only a few days left to prepare for your guests. Here are two drink ideas that are sure to please, courtesy of local a bartender, Michael Marino. New Year's Kiss Your favorite sparkling wine 1 tsp. of your favorite berry-flavored jam 1/4 oz. Chambord In a champagne flute, pour Chambord over the jam. Top with sparkling wine and toast the beginning of 2011 with your special someone and those you hold dearest! Oatmeal Cookie  2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps 2 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream 1/4 oz. Goldschlager Cinnamon Schnapps Pour ingredients into ice-filled cocktail shaker, shake and pour. Batch makes five shots or one serious drink.
