Poll: Do You Support the Rezoning of the Former Consol Site?

The commissioners voted in favor of allowing a mixed-use development to be built on the corner of Washington and Fort Couch Roads. Are you happy with their decision?

In a 4-2-1 vote, the Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners made the decision to allow a mix of retail and residential development on the corner of Washington and Fort Couch Roads. Some of commissioners expressed their support for the text amendment because it requires the developer to submit a master plan that must get approved by the planning commissioner and board of commissioners—giving the township some control of the development. About 100 residents who were mainly against the rezoning attended the Oct. 3 hearing. Their main concerns were traffic, increased crime and the possibility of big box stores being built. Why is the developer allowed to put a big orange fence along the property line without a permit. I guess the answer to Mike's question is yes, the developer can do whatever, whenever he wants and nobody says anything. Nice reporting Patch.   more ›
