Frost is possible Saturday morning.
It's going to a be a chilly start to the Memorial Day weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for Upper St. Clair. The advisory will remain in effect from 3 to 8 a.m. Saturday as temperatures hover around 32 degrees. Be sure to cover your sensitive plants and bring potted plants indoors. The watch expired early.
Update: The thunderstorm watch has expired. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for southwestern Pennsylvania, including Upper St. Clair. The watch remains in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service, which says some storms cound be severe with damaging winds. Upper St. Clair and the surrounding area is under a freeze warning from 1 to 8 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures may dip into the 20s overnight. The warning goes into effect at 1 a.m. until 9 a.m. The temperature is expected to dip into the 20s. A freeze watch also remains in effect late Monday night through Tuesday morning. The weekend forecast looks much warmer.
Warmer temperatures are on the way after Pittsburgh experienced a record low temperature Thursday morning. The National Weather Service in Moon Township recorded an unofficial low temperature of 19 degrees at Pittsburgh International Airport at 6 a.m., which broke the record low of 20 degrees in 1954, according to the Post-Gazette.
