Brother Framed in South Hills Village Theft Case

The latest from the office of Magisterial District Judge Robert Wyda.

More than a month after his first scheduled preliminary hearing, the man accused of stealing a wrench and a watch from the South Hills Village Sears faced district Judge Robert Wyda. In October, the man who police believed to have stolen the $100 worth of goods insisted to the judge that he was not the right suspect, even though he had the same name and personal information given to Sears Loss Prevention employees. The judge and a constable decided to ask one of the employees to text a picture of the suspect arrested, which is kept in the Sears Loss Prevention files. The picture was not of the man standing in front of the judge; it was his brother. Constables eventually arrested Anthony James Thomas Jr. while he was on his way to another …

Preliminary Hearings Continued for Car Theft Suspects

The latest from the office of Magisterial District Judge Robert Wyda.

The preliminary hearings for the three men suspected of breaking into an Upper St. Clair resident's vehicle were continued until July 25. Maxwell Brenner, 18, of 2240 Bernard St., Pittsburgh, PA 15234; Jarrod Bodzer, 21, of 489 Lamarido St., Pittsburgh, PA 15226; and Daniel Hancock, Jr., 21, of 1210 Oakridge St., Pittsburgh, PA 15226 were arrested on June 30 on Trotwood Circle.  When a Blairmont Drive resident called police after his car alarm went off, police stated in the criminal complaint that they found the men in possession of various electronic items, including gps units and cell phones in a plastic shopping bag. Brenner, Bodzer and Hancock are all facing one count of theft by unlawful taking, one count of receiving stolen property…
