Additional tickets for this summer's Upper St. Clair Kennywood picnic go on sale inside the school district's administrative office's lobby on Thursday and Friday. The tickets will be available from 8:30 a.m. to noon. They cost $23 each and only cash and money orders are accepted. The picnic itself is on Monday, June 18. In addition, the school district is offering Kennywood bus tickets with transportation TO Kennywood ONLY at the cost of $5 each. Please note that return transportation from Kennywood will NOT be provided. The bus will leave Eisenhower Elementary School on Kennywood Day at 11 a.m. Bus tickets can be purchased through Friday, June 15.

We all know that the economy is tough nowadays, so we at Patch want to find ways for families to enjoy a summer vacation on the cheap. There are plenty of places to have a great summer vacation without spending a lot of money. You can go to Kennywood, ride the bike trails, spend a day at the trolley museum, relax at the local park, take in an auto race, ride a boat or hit some golf balls. The amusement park is close to inking a deal for a beer garden.
Riders at Kennywood Park may soon be able to down some liquid courage before hopping on the amusement park’s more daring rides. At a public hearing Wednesday, West Mifflin officials approved a liquor license transfer from a closed McKeesport restaurant to Kennywood, the Tribune Review reports. If the Liquor Control Board approves the transfer, the family-friendly amusement park could begin selling beer in a designated “beer garden” by June. According to the Trib’s report, Kennywood officials said they had a positive response from guests when beer was sold at the park during two weekends in September for Oktoberfest events. Everyone is invited to join Kennywood this month in celebrating the coming fall season with a parade every night. More than 140 high school and college marching bands will participate in the Fall Fantasy Parade. Upper St. Clair will perform Monday, Aug. 15. Parades are scheduled for 8 p.m. nightly (weather permitting) and the following rides will be closed during the parades: Jack Rabbit, Aero 360, Racer, Paddle Boats, Skycoaster and Volcano. The annual Upper St. Clair school picnic to Kennywood is scheduled for June 20. If your child doesn't have tickets, you can still purchase them at the school district administrative office on Monday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 7, from 8 a.m. until noon. The tickets cost $22.00 each. Only cash and money orders are accepted. The school district is also selling Kennywood bus tickets, but only with transportation to Kennywood. Return transportation from Kennywood will not be provided. The bus will leave Eisenhower Elementary School at 11 a.m. and tickets cost $5.00 each.
