The 19-year-old has been missing since saying she was headed to Florida with a boyfriend.
Alivia Christine Kail, a 19-year-old living in Mt. Washington, went to her brother's home in West Mifflin on March 5, 2011, to gather some clothes. Alivia told him she planned to move to Florida with her boyfriend, Alexander Lorenzi, of Pittsburgh's Esplen neighborhood. When her family was unable to contact her by phone for several days, they became concerned. Then Alivia's phone was shut off for non-payment. When Lorenzi reappeared in Pittsburgh without Alivia and gave conflicting accounts as to her whereabouts, the family's worry deepened. Lorenzi was arrested on March 30, 2011, for unrelated drug and gun charges. Jordan A. Clemons, wanted for questioning in the death of Karissa Kunco, was jailed on unrelated charges—and additional charges were added Friday.
A former Canonsburg man wanted for questioning in the death of a Baldwin woman was jailed on $250,000 bond early Friday for unrelated charges—and two more charges have been filed against him as of Friday afternoon. Jordan Clemons, 22, who lists a Pittsburgh address, was charged by Canonsburg police Thursday for felony counts of robbery and burglary, as well as assault and theft, online records show. On Friday, he was also charged by Canonsburg police with one felony count of flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punish and two counts of escape, a misdemeanor. The usually bustling intersection at Brookline Boulevard United Presbyterian Church was quiet Thursday night, as a crowd gathered to honor a lost friend. “People say things about smiles that light up rooms, but it’s the truth with her,” said Tom Pisano, Karissa Kunco’s former softball coach. Karissa Kunco, a 21-year-old Brookline native, was remembered in an impromptu vigil held by friends just hours after news of her death was made public. State police confirm that the body found in Mt. Pleasant Thursday afternoon is that of Karissa Kunco.
The body found in Mt. Pleasant Thursday afternoon has been identified as that of a missing woman from Baldwin. State police in Washington announced during a press conference that the body of Karissa Marie Kunco, 21, was found near Sabo Road “where several men doing land surveying in the area had found the body of a white female laying just off the roadway." Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said Kunco died of a knife wound. Kunco’s car had been found crashed on Gladden Road in Cecil Township about 9:30 a.m.—several hours after state police had received an alert to be on the lookout for the woman, who was reported missing by Baldwin police. Cecil Township police confirmed to reporters that a car that crashed on Gladden Road in Cecil belongs to missing Baldwin Borough woman Karissa Kunco. Police said that nobody was in the vehicle when it was found crashed on Thursday morning and declined to give a further description of the contents of the vehicle. Gladden was partitioned off near its intersection with state Route 980, and officers from multiple police departments responded. A police spokesperson told reporters that state police and forensic specialists were called to the scene.
