USC Boys Basketball Runs and Guns To First Round Victory

The Upper St. Clair boys' basketball team entered the first round of the WPIAL playoffs Saturday afternoon eager to show what kind of team they could be if they played at their full potential. The fans at Baldwin High School got a bird's-eye view of that full potential as three USC players scored in double figures in a 70-52 victory over Franklin Regional. Senior guard/forward Steve Limberiou matched Franklin Regional's Sammy Ayasso for a game-high 18 points, and juniors Dakota Conwell and Derik Young added 13 and 12, respectively. Boys' Basketball Team Routed on First Day of Gateway Invitational

Limberiou scores 25 in loss to Greensburg Central Catholic

The good news for the Upper St. Clair boys' basketball team is it has its two previously-injured captains back healthy and up to their old tricks in time to enter the thick of their section schedule. The bad news is their efforts were not enough to shut down early season WPIAL Class AA favorite Greensburg Central Catholic in an 80-63 loss at the Gateway Invitational Tournament at the Henry J. Furrie Sports Complex in Monroeville. Steve Limberiou scored a game-high 25 points and Garrett DelRe added 17 as the Panthers (4-2, 1-0 section record) shot 53 percent from the floor.
