It could be a slippery rush hour on your way home to Upper St. Clair. The National Weather Service is predicting a quick moving storm will move through the western Pennsylvania area Monday afternoon and evening. Here is a more detailed look at the forecast.

Back to School: Kids Could See More Snow Days This Year

AccuWeather.com predicts storms this fall that will produce more white stuff in the winter.

With the new Upper St. Clair school year rapidly approaching, students are likely already wondering how lucky they'll get with snow days. Good news for them (maybe not so much for school administrators) is that AccuWeather.com reports that those students will likely get more snow days this school year than they did during the last one. Last winter, at least nine of the country's snowiest cities had less than 60 percent of their average snowfall (according to USA Today). How is this intensity of this winter being measured? "The presence of El Niño or La Niña—and their strength—is used to project how active the winter season is going to be," AccuWeather.com reports. And AccuWeather.com long-range meteorologists are projecting a weak to …

High Temperatures to Move Across Region

Meteorologists predict ‘beautiful’ holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service in Moon is reporting good news for this weekend’s backyard barbecues. “We’ll have above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation,” said meteorologist Bob Davis. Despite Friday’s showers, the forecast for the rest of the holiday weekend is full of sun. Saturday will be in the high 80s with evening temperatures in the low 60s; Sunday will be in the high 80s with evening temperatures in the mid 60s; and Memorial Day will boast temperatures in the low 90s with evening temperatures in the mid 60s. Those higher temperatures will continue through Tuesday, Davis said. “It will be sticky, but not sweltering. Anytime it’s 90 (degrees) in Pittsburgh, it feels pretty warm,” he said. The 90-degree temperatures …

Sunny Days? Don't Get Your Hopes Up

The National Weather Service in Moon said if the rapture doesn't happen, expect thunderstorms instead.

Meteorologist Lee Hendricks said if you have kids in Little League baseball, good luck. Rainy, soggy, depressing weather is expected to persist through next week — if, of course, the world doesn’t end Saturday. “I just hope I can get the admin approval to leave if the rapture occurs halfway through my shift,” Hendricks said with a laugh. But seriously: If you want to soak up some sun, the National Weather Service in Moon said clear your schedule Saturday, because that might be the only chance you get. Which works out perfectly for Upper St. Clair. Saturday is Community Day. Expect temperatures to soar to about 77 degrees, with lows dipping into the 50s. After that, Hendricks said the forecast goes sour, with a 40 percent chance of …
