Magisterial District Judge Robert Wyda heard two Upper St. Clair DUI cases this week. In the first case, Ian Vaughn Hambelton, 34, of Upper St. Clair, waived his DUI-related charges to court. Upper St. Clair police stated in the criminal complaint that Hembelton was pulled over at Berkshire and Maryland drives after an officer spotted him driving with the vehicle's high beams on and running a stop sign at the intersection of Hastings Mill and Old Washington roads. Police arrested Hambelton shortly after 3 a.m. on March 23. According to court documents, Hambelton's blood alchohol content measured at .152 percent, nearly twice Pennsylvania's legal limit of .08 percent. Patrick Ray Miller, 27, of Washington, PA, is also facing DUI charges. …

Upper St. Clair police recently arrested a Bethel Park man for DUI in the CVS parking lot. Alan Simon Conners waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday. Police stated that they pulled Conners over in the CVS parking lot after receiving a call from Washington County 911 about a man who fled north on Route 19 from Peters Township after getting into a physical fight, according to the criminal complaint filed with district Judge Robert Wyda's office. Guilty Plea William R. Zapf, Jr., of Carnegie, pled guilty to a summary retail theft charge after stealing a pair of pliers from Sears. An Upper St. Clair man was held for court Monday on DUI charges. Robert Mihail Petrescu, 24, is accused of being drunk when he crashed his vehicle into another on Dec. 11, 2012. The crash occurred at the corner of McMillan and Orr roads. Each vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage. The following are three Sears theft cases heard by district Judge Robert Wyda on Monday. All cases were continued.

Two Bethel Park women accused of shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from Kohl’s in December have agreed to go through a first-time offender program. Stephanie Reilly, 20, and Kayla L. Knudsen, 19, both were charged with retail theft after Bethel Park police stopped them on Dec. 21. Police said Reilly took two necklaces, a ring, leggings and various fragrances that were worth a total of $441. Knudsen took a sweater, tank top, leg warmers and fragrances worth a total of $316, according to police. Both agreed to go through a first-time offender rehabilitation program during their preliminary hearing with District Judge Robert Wyda on March 25. The preliminary hearing for an Upper St. Clair man charged with DUI was continued for a second time on Monday. Upper St. Clair police charged Robert Mihail Petrescu, 24, with DUI after he crashed his vehicle on December 11, 2012. According to the criminal complaint, the vehicle Petrescu was driving crashed head-on into another vehicle at the corner of McMillan and Orr roads. Petrescu and a female passenger in his vehicle were transported to St. Clair Hospital, where blood samples were taken from Petrescu. The woman driving the other vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign told police she would have her husband bring her to the hospital later, according to the complaint. DUI charges against a Mt. Pleasant man were held for court Monday in district Judge Robert Wyda's courtroom. Upper St. Clair police arrested Kevin L. Bell, 27, at 2 a.m. on Nov. 15 on Thorntree Drive and Boyce Road. According to a criminal complaint filed by the police, the arresting officer observed Bell's car swerving on Route 19. Bell's blood alcohol level was measured at .194 percent, according to the complaint. The legal level of alcohol in Pennsylvania is .08 percent. A Cecil Township man is being charged with DUI and other crimes after he crashed into a tanker truck Friday afternoon, causing lengthy delays. Devin D. Carter, 38, was arrested minutes after the crash along Bower Hill Road on Feb. 8 after Bridgeville police officers said they spotted him walking away from the scene. Investigators said they believe Carter was under the influence of drugs when he crossed the centerline and crashed into the side of the tanker. The truck’s fuel tank ruptured, spilling diesel onto the roadway, although the used motor oil it was transporting did not leak, police said. An Upper St. Clair man is headed to trial on DUI charges. An Upper St. Clair police officer reported in a criminal complaint filed with district Judge Robert Wyda's office that he pulled over Robert R. Gostic, 39, for speeding in November. The officer was performing traffic enforcement near the Marosz Station on Washington Road. The officer stated he smelled alcohol on Gostic's breath. Gostic told the officer he drank at the Pittsburgh Steelers game and failed a field sobriety test, according to the complaint. Gostic's blood alcohol content was measured at .154 percent. On this day of celebration, Patch wants you to know when enough is enough. When police pull drivers over for suspected drunken driving, officers ask them to perform field sobriety tests and to take a breath test to measure Blood Alcohol Content. A BAC test measures the percentage of alcohol present in a person's bloodstream. Pennsylvania's legal limit is 0.08 percent.
