High School Athletes Take Run for Fun Victories

For the first time, organizers were forced to turn runners away before registration time expired.

Two Upper St. Clair High School cross country and track athletes won Upper St. Clair Community Day's Run for Fun on Saturday. Senior Conor Klutch officially finished the race first with an unofficial time of 18:38. "I was pushing for time to see how I progressed from cross country," he said. "It was my best by 22 seconds. "The race was nice, kind of rough because of the heat, other than that a good race." Klutch will be running for a Penn State Behrend next year. Sophomore Angelica Lucas finished first among females and said she was happy with her time, which was just under 21 minutes. "It was hilly and hot," she said. First Pay-To-Play Fees Due Soon

The athletic registration fee for Upper St. Clair School District fall sports is due on Aug. 1.

For the first time ever in the Upper St. Clair School District, students at Upper St. Clair High School and Fort Couch Middle School must pay to play sports. The first fees are due on Aug. 1. Administrators broke down the teams into three tiers.
