The Gas Man

The Station with the Cheapest Gas is...

We drove around town to find the gas station selling the least expensive gas, so you wouldn't have to waste your own gas on it.

Only one gas station dropped the price of gasoline since last time we checked on March 16. The BP located across Washington Road from the Galleria dropped unleaded gasoline to $3.57 a gallon. The full-service station down Washington Road across from the high school was selling gas for $3.58 a gallon. Every other gas station we drove by had gasoline priced at $3.59. Many oil experts blame the high prices on the unrest in Libya and the United State's dependency on foreign oil. However, an author interviewed in a Daily Finance article said the financial market is to blame. You can read more here.

Where to Find the Cheapest Gas

We took a drive around town to check out the gas prices, so you didn't have to.

There is no relief at the gas pump this week. The prices in Pittsburgh and across the nation are so high, President Barack Obama addressed the problem in a national news conference last week. He said his team is doing everything they can to prevent price gauging and make America less dependent on foreign oil.  The cheapest gas I found this week, as always, was at the Service Center full-service gas station on Washington Road, across from the high school. They only accept cash, Visa or MasterCard, but the price per gallon is just $3.57. Every other station in the area is selling gas for $3.59. If you know of a nearby station selling gasoline for less, please let us know below in the comment box.

Gas Prices Surge: Where to Find the Least Expensive

Scouring local gas stations to find the best deal in town.

Hopefully you didn't wait to fill up the tank. Pittsburgh gas prices jumped nearly 15 cents in one week -- making it much harder on our wallets -- and much harder on me to find you cheap gas prices! The reason, again, for the rising gas prices, is the rising oil prices. Oil hit $106 a barrel Monday due to the escalating violence in Libya. Here's a look at the local gas prices in our area, listed lowest to highest: $3.47/gallon of unleaded: Service Center on Washington Road across from Upper St. Clair High School (This is a full service station that accepts only cash, Visa and MasterCard) $3.48/gallon of unleaded: Wagners St. Clair Mini Mart Sunoco on Washington Road $3.49/gallon of unleaded: GetGo on Ft. Couch Road  GetGo on Washington …

Gas Prices Up Again

The price of fuel was raised at almost every local gas station this week.

While taking a drive around town, I noticed a common trend, gas prices are up again. According to AAA, the average gas price in Pittsburgh is $3.14 for a gallon of unleaded gasoline. That's up from $3.11 for a gallon of unleaded last week. The cheapest gas price I found in Upper St. Clair was at the Service Center across the street from the high school. The price there was $3.12. The next best price was $3.13 for a gallon at the BP on Washington Road. That's two cents lower than the GetGo across the street at the Galleria, where gas was going for $3.15. Drive a couple blocks down the road, and I found the same price at the Sunoco across the street from the Uncommon Market. As I headed towards Washington County, I spotted gas going for $3.…

USC Gas Prices Vary Greatly

From $3.07 to $3.15, there are many choices at local gas stations

Gas prices are up across the nation, but in Upper St. Clair, the prices vary. There are two Sunoco gas stations selling a gallon of unleaded for $3.15. The stations on Washington Road and McMurray Road were selling gas for $3.09 last week. The other nearby Sunoco, St. Clair's Mini Mart near Washington County, is selling gas for $3.08. Every other gas station I drove by was selling gas for $3.07, so drivers' best bet may be to stay away from the Sunoco gas stations. Gas prices in Pittsburgh and across the nation jumped this week. According to AAA, the average price in Pittsburgh is $3.11 and the average price across the nation is $3.04. According to economists, the rise in gas prices coincides with the rise in crude pricess, which recently …

USC Gas Prices Drop Slightly Before Holiday Travel

The average price of gas in Upper St. Clair is lower than the surrounding area

Some pleasant surprises in store for Upper St. Clair drivers getting ready for their holiday trips. In the weekly drive around town to find the cheapest gas, I found a few stations dropped prices to stay competitive. Most gas stations have a gallon of unleaded going for $3.07. That includes the GetGos on Washington and Ft. Couch Roads, the Sunoco on Washington Road across from the Uncommon Market and the Service Center across from the high school on Washington Road. No change in price at St. Clair Mini Mart's Sunoco this week. The price remains at $3.08. The most expensive gas is being sold at the Sunoco on McMurray Road. However, compare the price to stations outside Upper St. Clair, and the price isn't so high. $3.09 is the price at the…

Gas Prices on the Rise

Add it to your Christmas costs, the price at the pump is surging

Just as you get ready to take another road trip to Grandma's house for the holidays, gas prices are on the rise again. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Pittsburgh is $3.09. That is a whopping $0.12 higher than the national average, $2.97. What gives?! As the new "Gas Man" of the town, I decided to take a ride around to find out the cost of gas in our neighborhood. The cheapest I found was $3.07 at the BP across from The Galleria on Washington Road and the Service Center across from the Upper St. Clair High School on Washington Road. The price at the St. Clair Mini Mart's Sunoco was also lower than the Pittsburgh's average. A gallon cost $3.08. The majority of gas stations in the 'hood had gas going …
