UPDATE: Woman Reported Missing on New Year's Now Found

Joan Lynn Meissonier, 59, of Castle Shannon, who had been missing since New Year's Day, was found in East Liberty on Thursday afternoon.

UPDATE: (Jan. 3 - 4:30 p.m.): According to Castle Shannon police, Joan Lynn Meissonier was found in Pittsburgh's East Liberty area on Thursday afternoon by an acquaintance who then notified a family member. A woman missing from Castle Shannon Borough could be in danger, according to the Castle Shannon police website. Joan Lynn Meissonier, 59, was last seen yesterday, Jan. 1, around 2 p.m. According to the report, she is not carrying her medication, her purse or any identification. Meissonier is described as 5'5" and weighing about 120 pounds. She has green eyes, dark brown shoulder-length hair, and may be wearing tennis shoes and a black winter coat. She has told her family that she wanted to live on the streets, according to reports from …

DUI Checkpoints for Memorial Day Weekend

Pittsburgh police will conduct DUI and sobriety checkpoints Memorial Day weekend.

Pittsburgh police will conduct sobriety checkpoints and roving DUI patrols this Memorial Day weekend. The patrols will be in place between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. throughout the South Hills and West End sections of the City of Pittsburgh. In addition, Castle Shannon Police Department, as part of the DUI Task Force, will begin a summer-long intensive DUI enforcement on Memorial Day weekend. Municipal and state police will increase sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols throughout the state. DUI Checkpoints Planned for Weekend

Area police departments are rolling out sobriety checkpoints and extra DUI patrols.

With all the events happening in and around Pittsburgh this weekend, area police departments want everyone to have fun—but they also want to keep everyone safe. The South Hills Area DUI Task Force, which includes police departments from Bridgeville, Scott, Collier, Mt. Lebanon, Baldwin, South Fayette and Castle Shannon, will increase efforts to find impaired drivers. Heidelberg police will have extra officers out Friday and Saturday nights with roving DUI patrols continuing through 4 a.m. Sunday. The Pittsburgh police will be conducting DUI patrols and managing sobriety checkpoints throughout the City of Pittsburgh this weekend. The Pittsburgh DUI Task Force will have extra officers on patrol looking for impaired drivers over the weekend …
