Carmike Corporate Receives Bomb Warning

No report of threat at South Hills Village theater complex.

The Carmike Cinemas corporate office has been the target of bomb threats, according to several news sources. Bethel Park police said they had no information about any threats pertaining to the Carmike 10 at South Hills Village. Carmike officials said a bomb threat was called into the corporate offices in Columbus, GA, Friday morning, claiming multiple bombs had been planted in theater locations across the country. According to information received by The Tennessean in Nashville, the bomb threat came from a Hispanic rights organization that claimed there was a bomb threat in nine Carmike theaters across the United States. There are numerous reports from across the country that theaters are being searched.

Woman Held at Gunpoint at PNC ATM

District Judge Robert Wyda arraigned a man Monday accused of going on a robbery spree. John Patrick St. Vincent, 31, of Finleyville, is being held in the Allegheny County Jail. According to Bethel Park police, the spree began on May 30 at the ATM at PNC Bank at 5035 Library Rd., next to the Walmart. A woman told police she was using the ATM around 10 p.m. when a man demanded money and lifted his shirt to show her a handgun. She told him she had no money and was depositing a check, and then he ran off, according to the criminal complaint. Less than an hour later, police accuse St. Vincent of robbing two Kentucky Fried Chicken employees in the parking lot as they were leaving for the night. Toddler Found Wandering at Mall Twice in One Day

Mother and boyfriend are charged with child endangerment.

A Peters Township mother and her boyfriend were held for court Monday on charges of endangering the welfare of a child. Monica Moskal and David Grant Weaver, of 290 Scott Ln., Venetia, are both facing the felony to the third degree charge after Moskal's 3-year-old boy was found wandering at South Hills Village twice in one day. District Judge Robert Wyda dropped a simple assault charge against Weaver during his preliminary hearing Monday. A security manager testified during the hearing that one of his officers saw the little boy unattended on the escalator on April 4. He reunited the boy with Moskal and asked her to watch the child, according to testimony. About one hour later, when Weaver came to the mall to meet Moskal and the boy, a …

Plea Deal Reached in Pharmacy Drive-Thru Road Rage Case

A woman is accused of punching another woman in the Giant Eagle Market District Pharmacy drive-thru.

A Brookside Farms resident is charged with punching another woman in the face in the Giant Eagle Market District Pharmacy drive-thru. On Monday, Constance O'Ferrell, 52, of 3204 Arapahoe Road, agreed to take anger management classes in exchange for the simple assault charge against her to be dropped. The victim, Kala Gatalski, told district Judge Robert Wyda at a preliminary hearing that on Oct. 4, 2011, she honked the horn while sitting in the pharmacy drive-thru in an attempt to see if the driver ahead of her was done or if the pharmacy window was closed. Gatalski said she had been waiting behind the driver for about 20 minutes. A short time later, O'Ferrell drove a short distance, parked her vehicle and walked to Gatalski's vehicle. …

Hearing Continued for Man Accused of Blaming Theft on Brother

The latest from the office of Magisterial District Judge Robert Wyda.

The hearing was continued for a man accused of stealing a wrench and watch and attempting to attack a Sears Loss Prevention employee at the South Hills Village Sears. Anthony James Thomas Jr. was sent back to the Allegheny County Jail on Monday and was ordered to pay $144.98 in restitution to Sears. If he complies, his charges will be reduced to a summary retail and summary harassment. District Judge Robert Wyda said Anthony James Thomas Jr. gave Sears employees his brother's personal information and that his brother showed up for the preliminary hearing more than a month ago. A Barking Good Time: Paws for the Cause

Pit Boss Shorty Rossi joined a lineup of other speakers and demonstrators at Peterswood Park, to promote pit bull and canine awareness and benefit the Officer James Kuzak Benefit Fund and a new police support foundation.

Celebrities, vendors, demonstrators and volunteers collected at the amphitheater in Peterswood Park on Saturday for a day-long event which benefited two exceptional causes and promoted education about a third exceptional cause. Three causes at one event may seem like a lot of causes, but it’s nothing compared to the number of paws that were there! The event was Paws for the Cause, and it was organized to promote pit bull and canine awareness and to benefit both the Officer James Kuzak Benefit Fund and the Western Pennsylvania Police Benevolent Foundation.
