Shouldn't really be a surprise in the 'it's not your fault' culture we're raising kids in. Everyone…Read More gets a ribbon, everyone's a winner, we're all just helpless victims of an unfair culture, you're entitled to succeed, etc. Chalk up another mark for America, (where one third are considered obese) we've classified yet another decision we make as a disease. Next up... texting while driving?

James, I've restored some posts that filtered into the wrong end of our system here. Is that better?
James Barth June 19, 2013 at 07:46 pm
Mr. Healy,
Thank you for restoring the first post, and in the proper order.
Sincerely,
James Barth

Sorry about that. New-look site still working out some kinks.

I thank all of you gentlemen for your input and thoughtfulness. Robert, I do not know what Pete Rose…Read More could or would be lying about now. He has admitted gambling on baseball and there has been no allegation that he bet against the Reds. He is not the most savory person to have ever played the game by any means, but not many baseball players are altar-boy types.
Robert Edward Healy, III (Editor) June 18, 2013 at 06:33 pm
I would hate to see him in the Hall only to find out later that he bet against the Reds.
Oren Spiegler June 18, 2013 at 07:20 pm
Agreed, Robert. That would be awful, but that is the risk that is taken when any individual, dead…Read More or alive, is eternally enshrined through some type of recognition. Few could have imagined the revelations that would ensue regarding J. Edgar Hoover at the time that his name was placed on the FBI Building in Washington. It happens even with those whose prior reputations had been pure as the driven snow.

Adults have the right to do as they wish in our free country so long as they operate within the law,…Read More but the fact is that the best way to ensure motorcycle safety is not to ride motorcycles. The bike rider places him or herself at a far higher risk of death or maiming by virtue of their hobby. The thrill of the open road must be quite something in order for so many to risk their lives and the happiness of their loved ones to do it. The most safe, defensive driver on a motorcycle is no match for all that he or she has working against them on the road. I would hope that the motorcycle rider would think of their family before placing their life at risk for what in the grand scheme of things, is so unimportant.

I don't ride myself, but I know that motorcycling can be safe. The biggest threat to motorcyclist,…Read More are the car drivers that aren't paying attention.
We should legalize lane sharing (lane splitting). It improves rider safety, and reduces traffic congestion.
John Lappe June 17, 2013 at 08:58 am
Oren will never understand! Plus, f more people rode we would have less traffic, and use less fuel.

Thank you, Oren for your well taken article on bank robbery lack of seriousness and lack of security…Read More measures, Vince was a good man who believed in justice, love and humanity. He died a hero and I commend you for your imput.

How do we know which banks have the door entrapment feature? Few? Many? Most? For those having…Read More the feature, is there a visible sign indicating an entrapment feature? I only go to one bank, and use the back door. My observations are very, very limited. Just wondering ... (no, not planning any heist soon)
Oren Spiegler June 19, 2013 at 04:51 am
Roger, we do not generally know which banks have this feature, and obviously, this would be a…Read More challenge at a Citizens Bank branch within a large supermarket, but if there were to be publicity about bank robber after bank robber being caught in such doors, you can bet that the incidence of bank robbery would markedly decline. It is chilling that the police would appear to be nowhere near apprehending the killer that pulled off this robbery as there is such a poor description of the person. Not even the surveillance photo from the bank is of much help. Apprehension of the killer apparently will turn on someone that knows the person and recognizes the clothing coming to police. I pray that happens and that we are able to get a murderer off the streets.
