Nevillewood Neighbors to Host Pool Party to Benefit Casey's Clubhouse

On Sunday, August 21, the Nevillewood Neighbors will host a pool party and cookout at the to benefit Casey’s Clubhouse and the Pirates Charities Miracle League of the South Hills Field.

The party and cookout will take place from 4–8 p.m. and will feature live music from local band Moscow Mule. Rita’s Italian Ice will be providing free Italian ice for all attendees and matching all cash donations made at the event.

Former MLB All-Star and Upper St. Clair resident Sean Casey and his wife, Mandi, to help fulfill the Miracle League’s mission that “every child deserves the chance to play baseball.”

Through a more than $1 million for the construction of the field, maintenance and funding for the league. Pirates Charities, the philanthropic arm of the Pittsburgh Pirates, is the field sponsor for the facility which .

“Casey’s Clubhouse means so much to the Nevillewood community. There are so many kids with special needs who have been traveling all the way out to Cranberry to play ball,” said Caroline Armfield, the vice president of programming and special events chairperson for Nevillewood Neighbors. “Having a Miracle League field right in the South Hills will do so much for the entire community.”

The Nevillewood Neighbors are a network of neighborhood families and children that is organized through both a street captain network and the support of the Club at Nevillewood.

In addition to the pool party, children within the organization have been helping raise money for Casey’s Clubhouse through lemonade stands and the sale of friendship bracelets at the pool.

“Mandi and I have been completely floored by the generosity we have seen throughout this entire process,” Sean Casey said. “Helping build this field is something we are so proud to be a part of and we want to thank the Nevillewood Neighbors for hosting this great event to help us get even closer to achieving our goal.”

Located at the , the complex will include a custom-designed rubberized surface to help prevent injuries and will be completely wheelchair accessible in order to allow children of all abilities to take the field. The facility will feature dugouts, restrooms and a flat surface that eliminates barriers for wheelchair-bound or visually impaired players, as well as a playground for the entire community to enjoy.
