Lemonade Stand Raises Money to Battle Cancer

An Upper St. Clair High School student has received plenty of support from the community.

The weather cooperated, and so did the supporters.

Upper St. Clair resident Sarah Burton was well on the way to reaching her goal of $2,000 toward the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation through the generosity of friends, family, neighbors and passersby.

She had her own lemonade stand set up Sunday along Warwick Drive, the third year she has done so. Along with drinks, she served homemade cookies and popcorn. She also raised money through pledges on her Web page.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand, based in the Philadelphia area, raises money toward battling childhood cancer. The organization is named after Alexandra Scott, a cancer patient who set up her own stands for the cause from age 4 until her death at 8.
