's conference now includes , Penn Hills and , along with , Bethel Park, , Mt. Lebanon and .

Starting in the 2012 season, five teams from the conference will make the WPIAL playoffs, plus one wild card team. Previously, four teams from each conference made the playoffs.

In addition, the WPIAL will schedule all games in the regular season for all teams, including the season opener. In the past, most WPIAL teams scheduled their own opener and the WPIAL scheduled the rest of the games, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
