Win Expected for USC Football Friday Night

as the Panthers look to take a big bite out of the Great Southern Conference cellar dweller Big Macs.

Canon-McMillan has already been outscored in their two conference games by a total of 67-0. Those defeats came at the hands of Bethel Park and Mt. Lebanon—who are tied at the top of the conference with USC at 2-0. The Panthers play both Bethel Park and Mt. Lebanon in their final two games of the season following Friday's game against the Big Macs.

Overall, Canon-McMillan has yet to win a game (0-6) and it is highly unlikely Friday's match-up against USC will result in anything but a lopsided victory for the home team.

The Panthers will most likely be working on all aspects of their game to fine-tune before their contests against Mt. Lebanon, Bethel Park and the upcoming WPIAL playoffs.

Their biggest concern this year? Coach Jim Render sums it up in one word.

"Tackling," said Render, looking for win number 349.

When the Panthers have had difficulty this season it has been tackling the football. It hurt them in , it cost them in a narrow and it kept closer than it needed to be early in the third quarter.

Certainly three shutouts in six games suggests that tackling isn't a major issue, but they will be competing against high-caliber teams in the playoffs.

In order to win a championship—which is the goal of this team—they will need to display superior tackling. Creating good habits in that respect is a season long process and they can't take a step back tonight against an inferior opponent.

A chance for wet weather should put an emphasis on the ground game for both teams, but look for to continue to build on his rapport with outstanding wide receiver . They are coming off their best game combining for eight completions and three touchdowns.
