Upper St. Clair Football No. 1 in WPIAL

The Panthers also take the Post-Gazette's No. 2 statewide ranking.

After an impressive start to its 2013 season, Upper St. Clair High School's varsity football team finds itself ranked as the best AAAA team in the WPIAL, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Sept. 9 rankings.

Upper St. Clair opened the season with a 16-10 win at Southeastern Conference rival Woodland Hills High School on Aug. 30. The Panthers followed that with a 47-0 rout over Southeastern foe Canon-McMillan High School this past Friday night.

Neither Woodland Hills nor Canon-McMillan made the Post-Gazette's rankings.

Statewide, the P-G ranks USC as the No. 2 AAAA team behind Coatesville Area High School of Chester County.

The Panthers will welcome unranked Peters Township High School, another conference opponent, this Friday night at 7:30.
