Trocheck Scores, Team USA Wins World Junior Hockey Gold Medal

The Upper St. Clair native was part of the 3-1 victory in Russia.

Upper St. Clair native Vincent Trocheck and Team USA are coming home from Russia with a World Junior Hockey gold medal, defeating Team Sweden in the championship game Saturday 3-1.

Trocheck recorded a goal and an assist in the game.

Whitehall native John Gibson was named MVP, tournament all-star and the tourney's top goalkeeper.

The United States rebounded from a 2-2 preliminary round to win three straight games in the tournament playoffs.

Two other players on Team USA have ties to Pittsburgh. Forward and Washington, PA, native Riley Barber and Coraopolis Borough resident J.T. Miller.
