Township Recognizes Outstanding Local Athletes

A number of Upper St. Clair High School swimmers and hockey players were honored at Monday's board of commissioners meeting.

The Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners recognized several outstanding athletes from Upper St. Clair High School during their regular meeting Monday night.

Commissioners gave certificates to the varsity hockey team, the boys' swim team and two individual female swimmers for their accomplishments during their seasons.

Commissioner Preston Shimer presented the Upper St. Clair varsity hockey team a proclamation recognizing their and .

Each player on the team also received certificates recognizing the two championships.

"It's just a great bunch of men," said Larry Marks, head coach of the varsity hockey team. "."

Commissioner Daniel Paoly handed out certificates to the following groups of swimmers for their championship victories:

-Brittany Dudzinski and Natalie Johnsen; Co-Champions, Girls' WPIAL AAA Championship; 100-yard butterfly

-Alex Hardwick; James Frauen; Patrick Davis; Andy Tomiczek; WPIAL AAA Championship; 200-yard free relay

-Alex Hardwick; James Frauen; Nathan Novak; ; WPIAL AAA Championship; 400-yard free relay

-Kyle Dudzinski; WPIAL AAA Championship; 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke
