USC Schools Searching for New Elementary Principal

The principal of Eisenhower Elementary will also be interim principal at Baker Elementary.

officials are searching for a new principal.

Dr. Ruth Ann Matyuf retired on Friday, Aug. 19.

"We wish Dr. Matyuf the best and thank her for her 18 years of service to USC," Superintendent Patrick O'Toole wrote in a letter to Baker parents.

, the principal of , has taken over as interim principal at Baker.

Miller will also continue as principal at Eisenhower, with help from Dr. Sharon Suritsky, Dr. Judy Bulazo, Ellie Stoehr and the outstanding Baker staff, according to Dr. O'Toole's letter.

Dr. O'Toole said Miller will remain the interim principal as the district searches for a replacement. 

He said he can't give parents a guarantee that there will be no changes, because "changes come when there is any replacement." However, Dr. O'Toole said he believes Miller will allow for a smooth transition.

"It's a recognizable face in the community and he has knowledge of the district," Dr. O'Toole said.

There is no timetable set for finding a new principal for Baker, according to Dr. O'Toole.
