USC One of U.S. News & World Report's Best High Schools

is the ninth best public, charter or magnet high school in Pennsylvania and the 604th best in the nation, according to the new rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.

"These results are another indication of the outstanding academic performance of our students and teachers. Our academic accomplishments would not be possible without the supportive community of Upper St. Clair," stated Superintendent Patrick O'Toole.

U.S. News teamed up with American Institutes for Research and analyzed 21,776 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Researchers calculated the schools' math and reading proficiency and college-readiness performance using Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate test data as the benchmarks for success. Upper St. Clair falls one rank below rival Mt. Lebanon High School in the state rankings.

Other Pittsburgh-area high schools to make the top 50 in Pennsylvania are Hampton High School, ranked 13th; , ranked 14th; North Allegheny Senior High School, ranked 17th; Fox Chapel Area Senior High School, ranked 27th; South Fayette Township High School, ranked 36th; and Ligonier Valley Senior High School, ranked 47th.
