Upper St. Clair High School Honors Veterans

A special ceremony took place for local veterans.

The Upper St. Clair High School social studies department presented assemblies for the students on Thursday, Nov. 8, to honor local veterans, hosted by Dan Zelenski and Keera Dwulit, high school social studies teachers.

John Gallo, Brian Kutschbach, Ben Dwulit, Brian Schill and Daniel Murphy represented the veterans on stage during the assembly. Students from the high school child care class led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, the Chanteclairs sang the Star Spangled Banner and the Panthers Marching Band played a medley of songs honoring the veterans.

Keera Dwulit read a poem, Brian Schill encouraged students to consider serving their country and Daniel Murphy spoke to the students regarding respect.

A video was shown from interviews that Meghan Allwes, Elisabeth Beall and Ashley Lahr conducted with Veterans at the “Tribute To Our Veterans” event that was held at the Carnegie Music Hall on Oct. 25.

During the entire assembly a spotlight remained on a table with a place setting that included articles representing the veterans and as a remembrance of the families who have lost a loved one while serving in the military.
