Superintendent Issues Message to Parents Regarding Connecticut School Shooting

Dr. Patrick O'Toole sent the e-alert out Friday afternoon.

As people around the country try to make sense of the tragic elementary school shooting in Connecticut, Upper St. Clair Superintendent Patrick O'Toole sent out an e-alert Friday afternoon to parents and the community:

Dear Parents and Community Members,

We are all deeply saddened by today's tragic event in Newtown, Connecticut. The USC District staff did not formally present this news to students.

We will struggle to explain such a senseless tragedy to our children.  To offer some assistance, I am sending to you the following document from the National Association of School Psychologists, "Talking to Children About Violence:  Tips for Parents and Teachers."
