Should Upper St. Clair's PTA Switch to a PTSO?

Members are contemplating the change for money reasons.

The main reason for the possible switch? Having a PTSO will keep the membership dues within the school district.

Currently, every PTA family membership that pays $13, $10 must be sent to the state and national PTA.

Every PTA individual membership who pays $7, $5 must be sent to the state and national PTA.

However, a switch from PTA to PTSO would end the Reflections Arts program. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for recognition.

In addition, the PTA has a lobbying office in Washington, DC that is staffed by professionals who lobby for PTA-approved positions such as anti-voucher and anti-charter movements. The PTA also advocates for issues such as healthy eating initiatives to early intervention programs.
