Mt. Lebanon Administrator Named New USC Principal

Patrick McClintock-Comeaux is the new Baker Elementary School principal.

Superintendent Patrick O'Toole announced the hiring Monday night of Patrick McClintock-Comeaux as the new principal.

McClintock-Comeaux is currently the principal of Stephen C. Foster Elementary School in the Mt. Lebanon School District.

He is an graduate and was a teacher and curriculum leader in the from 1995 to 2001.

"I'm excited to be back," McClintock-Comeaux told Upper St. Clair Patch. "It's nice to come home. The opportunities provided to me (in this district) were incredible and I'm ready to give back."

McClintock-Comeaux replaces last year. , the principal, as the Baker principal during the hiring process.

Administrative Restructuring

The Upper St. Clair School District has restructured its administration.

“I am excited about this reorganization plan. We have intentionally committed our leadership resources to the building levels during these difficult budget times. This plan represents approximately $100,000 in salary savings for 2012-13. The plan recognizes the outstanding work of several of our leaders and welcomes some new leaders to the district who bring significant experience," O'Toole stated.

Along with the hiring of a new Baker Elementary principal, the following changes are being made:

  • Dr. Sharon Suritsky is now officially the assistant superintendent after serving as acting assistant to the superintendent/supervisor of special education since 2009.
  • Melissa Garvin started her assignment as the supervisor of special education for the district on Feb. 27. She comes to USC from Services where she was director of academics and instruction.
  • John Rozzo, who has served as assistant principal at since 2005, will become the academic principal for both and Ft. Couch Middle Schools (grades 5 to 8).
  • Lou Angelo, who was , will be promoted to associate principal of USC High School. Angelo has been the assistant principal at the high school since 2006.
  • Amy Pfender has been named assistant principal at Boyce and Ft. Couch Middle Schools effective March 1. Pfender, in her role as special education curriculum leader, has assisted principal Karen Brown at Boyce Middle School since 2009.

As part of the reorganization, two district office positions—director of human resources and director of operations, community relations and special projects—and one building level position—director of high school guidance—have been eliminated.

Former Director of Human Resources James Lersch had his position eliminated in Oct. 2011. Former Director of Operations, Community Relations and Special Projects John Bornyas retired in Jan. 2012.

The district will be replacing Angelo as high school assistant principal in the near future.
