Vote on New Upper St. Clair Apartments Could Come Monday Night

Upper St. Clair commissioners are expected to take action Monday night after the continued public hearing for the proposed apartment complex off of Boyce Road.

Developer John Deklewa detailed his plan for "Torrente at Upper St. Clair" on Boyce Plaza Road during the first public hearing last month. The complex would consist of nine buildings and 220 one- and two- bedroom units.

Results from the traffic impact study will likely be presented Monday night. Some traffic concerns were already discussed during the last hearing, including the future need for a traffic signal on Boyce and Boyce Plaza and improvements at Boyce and Mayview roads.

If the commissioners approve the plan Monday night, Deklewa had said he hopes to begin construction this year and have the complex completed in two years.

The apartment complex's "neighbors" would be Southwood Psychiatric Hospital, Boyce Mayview Park and the former Mayview State Hospital.
