Upper St. Clair Commissioner Resigns

A resignation letter from Commissioner Mark Hamilton was read at Monday night's reorganization meeting.

Commissioner Mark Hamilton resigned from his elected position.

Hamilton will be relocating his primary residence to the Ligonier area, therefore he can no longer keep the residency requirement in Upper St. Clair's home rule charter.

Hamilton was elected an Upper St. Clair commissioner in 2009. His term wasn't going to expire until Dec. 2013.

Gentlemen:

In January, 2012, I will be relocating my primary residence to the Ligonier area. In light of my pending move and the residency requirement of our Home Rule Charter, please accept my resignation from the Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners.

Representing Ward 2 over the past two years has been a special experience. I enjoyed serving with my fellow Commissioners and working with the professional administrative staff or our township. Our camaraderie and teamwork demonstrated a commitment to the high calling of public service. It was an honor to be part of such an environment.

My best wishes to the Board as it strives to maintain the high standards of Upper St. Clair. I look forward to our paths crossing often.

Warm Regards,

Mark R. Hamilton

The commissioners are now accepting resumes and letters of interest from residents of Ward 2 interested in filling the rest of Hamilton's term. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen and have lived in Ward 2 for at least one year. The township will be issuing due dates in the coming days. Officials hope to conduct interviews and fill the vacancy by the end of January.

Resumes and letters of interest should be sent to:

Township of Upper St. Clair
Attn: Matthew Serakowski, Township Manager
1820 McLaughlin Run Road
Upper St. Clair, PA 15241
