Upper St. Clair to Receive Marcellus Shale Impact Fee Early

Pennsylvania communities will share $204 million as a result of the new fee that shale gas drillers paid on their wells, according to state officials.

Gov. Tom Corbett and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission announced Monday that they have significantly bumped up the release date of more than $100 million in impact fee funds being distributed to municipalities and counties in the Marcellus Shale region.

Municipalities will now receive the new revenues, released as part of Act 13, the state’s natural gas impact fee law, within the next 10 days. Initially, the state hadn’t planned to release the funds until December.

Upper St. Clair Township will receive nearly $4,000.
